Installing Tensorflow on macOS Monterey (M1)

It seems that there are no good instructions for installing TensorFlow on MacOS with an M1 chip. Naturally, my system is in some non-standard state.

I got it working on a clean install of python3.8.12 with the following additional steps:

I use pyenv to manage my python versions. Among other dependencies, I had to manually install xz to get python to work nicely.
